Is formal post secondary education a rite of passage to prove character? We don't care what Jimmy learned, actually he forgot most of it, but dammit he survived 4 years of classes and exams and assignments and that matters to us! The experts say that we learn by doing, by engaging and that passive absorption lasts until about 15 minutes after the final. I know that I perhaps drank too much as an undergraduate and that might have an influence but there are some entire courses that I've forgotten, not just lectures, not just facts . .
